As I have mentioned in other posts, we have a small garden this year. Zucchini are abundant. You can see they are HUGE too....
I have been trying to figure out what to do with them, besides the run of the mill zucchini bread and sauteed vegetables.
Then I read Paper Pie's blog.
She found a recipe on Smitten Kitchen and her pictures looked amazing.
I knew I needed to try the recipe.
Here's my Zucchini Galette.
It was a bit time consuming for someone like me that NEVER cooks.
I am trying to change that.
The effort was soooo worth it. It was rich and delicious.
My husband was impressed (he's the cook here). The fact that he was impressed really motivates me to want to cook even more.
Here's a close up. The crust has sour cream and lemon juice. There is just a hint of that when you are tasting, adds a punch to the dish.
I would definitely make it again.
Then after dinner, I was struck with QADD, you know Quilters' Attention Deficit Disorder.
You know the days, when you have like 10 projects started, maybe 3 or 4 with deadlines or something and you just can't focus on them.
So you pull out a small sampler or charm pack and make this >>>>>>>
What is it? I have no idea.
What will I use it for? maybe a center of quilt that has yet to be designed?
or it needs more white somewhere to add applique to?
Or just leave it as is and use it in the spring or summer on an end table....
All I do know is it satisfied my QADD!!
Whew, cause I REALLY need to finish those other 10 projects today ;)
okay not 10. But sometimes it feels like 10.
Anyone else having QADD? let me know, or talk amongst yourselves.
p.s. sorry about the missing image "image" on my blog. Cutest blog on the block is moving there designs and backgrounds. I will be changing that today hopefully, if I can get if off of my background.
Oh my goodness - I can TOTALLY relate!! You should see the mess of projects in my studio!!! Summer is just adding to the chaos with all my kids around and no quiet time for me! Hope both of us get something accomplished!
QADD - like every day! :)
Looks delish! I'm the same way right now. 2 blocks behind on the JRS, a bunch of swap items to be done, finishing Amelia's quilt... the list is neverending and I don't know where to start!
have you tried chocolate zucchini cake, zucchini lasagne,or with smaller ones zucchini pickles, refigerator and/or canned?? cyndi
QADD bad, but son and family are coming in today from Oklahoma for a week and I have spent the past week getting ready for them....no sewing time! :(
But grandson time will make up for it!
That is a wonderful looking dish! QADD now I have a name for what I have, that is half the battle right. LOL! I just went through a spell of that. I love the block, so cute. Don't worry your ideas will come on what to do with it.
I think your little quilt looks so cute. I think your blog looks really good today.
I grate and 'measure for recipe' my zucchini, freeze it and it is already mush when I thaw for bread during the holidays.
All that squash! You lucky! My favorite is to slice the squash into about 1/4" thick. Spray each side with oil (I use Misto). Salt & pepper. Broil or grill for about 2 min on each side. Top with pizza sauce and cheese and broil for an additional minute or two to melt the cheese. Voila! Little pizza bites!
Cheery wave from
QADD happens to me all the time, and my "results" look much like yours - precut squares sewn together for some simple goodness. I'm actually finishing up the hand quilting on one of those QADD projects today. Or I was until I got distracted by blogging. QADD, yeah, I can relate.
The zuccinni dish looks delish...and I totally, totally understand about your city weekend project...I do that all the time!!!
Zucchini delish dish! YUM...gonna have to give that one a try. Gorgeous photos!!
I love you qickie project, too! Life is good...and yes, QADD runs rampant in this house, also. LOL
I posted about finishing my QADD project that I referenced in my earlier comment to you. It is common for me to start QADD inspired projects, but not so common for me to finish them!
