My last weekend in pictures part one...

Since my mother in law was here (for a root canal) we had to fill last weekend somehow.
So I drug out my Sizzix cutter and circle die and cut her over 100 circles to make yo-yo's.

I cut this stack from my scraps and they are beauties...
We also cut dresdens with my Go! cutter for another hand stitching project,
but I forgot to take a picture.

Saturday my husband and I got to go away for the day.
okay we left at 7am and were back by 3pm...LOL
We chose the IKEA in Canton MI.
We had never been to that store.
It was good, but I prefer Cinncinatti because there is a Jungle Jim there.
While we were driving I sewed on a binding for that quilt....
48 x 48.
Not showing the front yet...
you'll have to use your imagination,
a little Lucy's Crab Shack by Sweetwater
and a plain ole BIG block ;)

Oh baby Oh baby boy!

the boy version that is...
I have sewed a row of squares in between my other project blocks.
Eventually it will be long enough to be an Oh Baby Oh Baby quilt.

Juggling Summer...beginnings

I have been sewing here and there...
A few half square triangles.
With Juggling Summer by Zen Chic that I picked up on etsy.

Lots of other 'stuff' has been going on...
Usual life stuff, you know.
Like my mother in law made an emergency trip to our house for a root canal.
(a free root canal is a privilege ?? for my mother in law)
Mostly I just hope she gets better soon,
her face was all swollen and the pain was pretty rough on her.
The schedule has been slightly altered to say the least.
We are going to try to make the best of it.

Simply Charming winner!

All of you are probably wondering IF I counted my charm packs.
Are you wondering?
Well I sort of did count.
By sort of, I mean....after I made it through what I think is all of them....
I sort of rounded...because I have a feeling I may have missed a few here and there.
okay so are you ready for this?
158
yep. sick.
I have been buying charm packs for 7 years (they are not all Moda).
I know this because I have 2 of the original Moda Tin Box Sampler Series
from 2005 and 2006.
I didn't get the Nantucket line by Minick and Simpson
but I have
Anticipation and Faded Memories.

I just can't bare to cut them.
I have used a TON of fabric and charms over the years,
yet they keep multiplying.
Here's another truth,
I rarely paid full price for charm packs.
It's true, I have to REALLY want it that minute to not wait for a sale.
So how could I have afforded so many charm packs in 7 years?
I would buy 6-8 charm packs from Hancocks of Paducah when they would
sale them at $3 or 4 each!
We don't see these those prices anymore.
I made an investment so to speak that will keep paying for years :)
okay that's just justification.
But I did go through a time when I would buy enough to make a bed sized quilt...
one or two charm packs just wasn't enough.
I don't buy like that now.
Anyhow,
back to the reason I am posting....
the winner of Simply Charming.....

Random number generator picked #46
Simply charming...
Melissa of Classy Quilts.
I will be emailing you today :)
Now I am off to sew.
Boy, I am dying to show what I have been sewing....

small.
13"- 21"
and they can all be made with scraps or charm packs.
I don't know about you, but I sooo many charm packs that it's embarrassing.
I NEED to use some.

Like you, I always wonder what a quilt will look like in different colors or theme.
Check out some of the pictures here....
Konda thinks the same as all of us!
Each project is shown in 2 colorways.

Konda was sweet enough to give me a copy of her book to pass on to one of my readers.
and just to sweeten' the loot I am going to include a charm pack of Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket for Moda.

Leave a comment telling me how many charm packs you have in your stash.
I will randomly select a winner on June 15th.

summer stitchery

I printed this free stitchery from Meme's Quilts many moons ago.
I finally decided to stitch it.
It's just the right season for it...
IF I get it done.
I chose the threads and traced it today.
We'll see how far I get stitching it this weekend.

What are you working on?
