Giant Pincushion Sew Along Step 1: Gather Supplies

Step 1: Gather supplies!

Supplies needed for Hand Piecing:

3 Fat Quarters or 3 different scraps atleast 5" X 44"
Moda It's a Hoot by MoMo will be used in my sample.

{6} 2" Hexagon english paper pieces

{12} 2" 6-point diamond english paper pieces
{if you don't have access to english paper pieces, make your own with card stock or paper using template provided}
Click on the image and print. Measure a side of the printed hexagon to ensure it's 2" or this will alter your pincushion dimensions.

scissors
Sewline glue pen
fine sewing thread 50wt coordinating color
fine hand sewing needle
{2} 1" buttons
polyfil or lizard liter

Alternate directions will be given IF you decide you'd like to sew this by machine.
Supplies for machine piecing:
3 Fat Quarters subcut into strips
{2} 5" X 22" fabric A
2.25" X 18" fabric B
2.25 X 18" fabric C
Marti Michell template set G or create your own with template provided
thread
polyfil
hand sewing needle
{2} 1" buttons

Thanks so much for including machine piecing instructions too! I sure admire those who handpiece, but I can't do it myself! Now to print that template! How exciting!
