Scrap Saturday

Finally I have something to show for another Scrap Saturday.  I have been hand sewing bindings like crazy...just trying to keep warm here! In between, I did pull some of my pink and white scraps and make some cute heart ornies for one of my bathrooms.

This weekend is going to be a whirlwind.  My mom is coming to spend a week with me. Hubby is off to Japan! This time I am pine-ing for 2 Blythe dolls (I don't own any yet) and Cotton Time magazine and japanese fabric...One of his collegues from Japan sent him information on Yuzawaya and the craft 'malls' in Tokyo. Crossing fingers that he will have time to shop this trip. Last Japan trip the poor guy spent 5 days in the hospital.
Stay tuned as I have an new Moda bakeshop SUPER simple project coming in a few days plus I will reveal what I made with my Whimsy fabric ;)

Totally Tuesday

Another WIP bites the dust! I am seriously on a 'finishing' kick here. It feels awefully good.  This runner is a pattern by Pieced Tree Patterns and the line is Recess by Moda  of course. I have been a Moda Groupie for a LONG time LOL.

Posh

A bit more of my weekend of productivity.

Finally finished hand sewing the binding on this small topper. I used the infamous 'windmill' template and a Moda charm pack of "Posh" by Chez Moi.
As for the rest of the weekend,  I dug out the guest room closet/batting closet LOL. I HAD to re-organize it a bit. That went well and I did downsize a few items.  I searched through DD2's baby stuff and vaccuum sealed rarely used items for safe keeping. I hope one day my sisters or brother will have a baby and can use them. I packed away the pack and play for 'visiting' babies as well.  I machined sewed a bit too. I have several projects in the works..but that's my usual.
Oh have to get back to work!
More tomorrow.....

Ikea decor with a spin...

By any chance do you remember my post back in November 2009?
A friend and I went to Ikea and scored some awesome fabric, home decor and do-dads. I bought the home dec fabric above plus 3 black frames. I have let it sit here for nearly 3 months due to quilt deadlines, holidays and laziness!
Not this weekend though, I was on a roll. I fussy cut the fabric and framed them.

Here they are in my downstairs bathroom.  I really love them.

Now what to do with the extra fabric??? hmm...have any ideas?

p.s. I am working on the t.p. tutorial...maybe this week?? I hope.

crafty toilet paper

Is this blog-able? I stepped into our bathroom the other day and found this.  My wonderful housekeeper got crafty with the t.p. !!
Yes I have a housekeeper once a week.  Otherwise, I would likely have no time to sew or craft! I feel blessed to have her help....so does my family.
Tonight, while my DD1 was at basketball practice I hand stitched a binding on a small tabletopper.  I hope to blog it tomorrow..just need a picture!

Valentine's Day decor ideas

I'm feeling very RED this week and super inspired to create Valentine projects to add to my decor. I don't have very many items for Valentine's Day it seems.  So I searched blogs etc for tutorials for inspiration....

Such as this Valentine card made with fabric or a Heart Pin from Purl Bee...
or
Charm pack vase wraps.....

Which I made today :) with left over charms of Love is In the Air Moda charm pack.
and
Felted Hearts by Cross Creek Primitives....

How about another fabric wreath?
I made this Valentine style wreath last weekend using an 8 inch wreath and Love is In the Air Moda charm pack...

plus I caught a blog that Nicole from Raggedy Old Annies had added new dolls for sale. I promptly bought these...

I just thought the little boy in the red polka dot pants was too hard to pass up.
And actually at Thanksgiving break in Iowa, I had thought a bit about Valentines' Day when I stumbled onto this scrapbooking paper by K and Company. I picked up 3 small frames as well.

With a bit of cutting and a few minutes to mount...I ended up with them little Valentine-y frames..

My girls ♥ them.

So anyhow, I spent the day finishing things here and there.  I bound a tablerunner at G's basketball game, pieced some of a new MBS project, sewed binding on another tablerunner, finished the vase wrap, started machine quilting another tablerunner and then we started re-doing my 2 year olds closet.  What a crazy day here! Tomorrow...who knows, maybe I will finish quilting the runner? and finish the closet....
we shall see.

Modern Siggy Swap...the beginning

Yep, Rachel opened a swap on psiquilt.com yesterday. 100 signed up in 5 hours! Luckily I was one of them. I haven't done a swap in a long while and now just seemed appropriate. I have very few deadlines at the moment...believe it or not.

So last night I began cutting my 2.5 inche squares. I found Verna, Freebird, Flutterby and Hushabye scraps!

okay I am off to sew...yeah...for snow days..

Happy New Year!!!!

We spent New Year's Eve day trying to make a snowman..as the snow was just the right consistency for packing.  The only issue was that the snow on the bottom wasn't packed hard enough to hold the middle "body" and it collapsed under the weight...hence there is no 'finished' snowman photo LOL! Those girls had a VERY good time outside. I took atleast 50 pictures.
As for finishing any more fabric projects...well that didn't happen the last 27 hours of 2009 so I ended the year with 55. I am happy with that...actually over joyed! I didn't expect to get half that done.  It was definitely a good year from that perspective.
Now as nearly everyone does I look toward the future year 2010.  What is my goal? resolution? you ask. Well I don't 'do' resolutions....because I never keep them. I did go back and re-read what I said at the beginning of 2009.
Here's what I wrote:
First: We'd like to sell our house....we thought we had it sold but the person backed out. It was devastating...but all things happen for a reason, I HAVE to believe that.

Second: I want to be more organized throughout my home. With 2 kids things get cluttered and I really dislike that 'look' around my house.
Third: I'd like to keep in touch with my family more and see them more often, they all live atleast 9 hours drive away.
Fourth: I'd like to finish more of my works in progress. I have been working on them in the last 2 weeks pretty heavily. I work differently than some, I like to have at least 5 or more projects at my sewing table at once. I get more done that way...it's efficient for me.
Fifth: I'd like to use more of my fabric. So many quilters call this stash. I think that has almost a negative connotation for me. IF I buy fabric, I'd rather feel good about it. So I am not calling it my stash. I consider ALL of the fabric WIPs....they are all part of a work in progress so I guess it's really part of #4 goal. LOL
So it looks like I made 4 of my 5 goals of last year!! No we didn't sell our house yet...it's going on 3 years..for real...and kinda sad. It's a wonderful home. I can only pray that the right family will come along soon!

So my goals for 2010 are.....

First: We'd like to sell our house.... All things happen for a reason, I HAVE to believe that.
Second: exercise more....Lord I HATE saying that...but it's true..20 minutes a day just isnt cutting it anymore. It means I have to get up even earlier than I already do....
Third: Continue quilt designing but balance it with personal projects too in order to keep it more like a hobby than work.
Fourth: Continue to use the fabric I already have...with the necessary Moda fabric additions LOL (can't leave out Moda!)

And to all of you...
Happy New Year! I hope you have a joyous and prosperous 2010!
