Rain Rain Go Away.

Here we are in sunny South Carolina. Ugh scratch that. Cloudy, raining and dreary South Carolina :(
This is spring break? bummer. I was really hoping for better weather.
The kids are going stir crazy having to stay inside.
It was so bad tonight, that we did exercise indoors like zumba style to burn our energy.
Well the kids mostly did. I didn't do a lot of moving. Why you ask? well it may have something to do with falling down 6 hardwood steps this morning. I am fairly certain I caught the edge of my pajama pants on the step and WHAM! down I went all the way to the landing.
I have been taking Advil all day to fend off soreness.
My backside is definitely sore.

Since it was raining and I was a little sore I decided a day of sewing was in order.
I have been drooling over the new book by Tara Lynn Darr and I know I have blogged about it before.

My first choice ws to make this quilt: Stars over the Mountain.
My actual first quilt from the book ---->>>>>
Grannie's Scrap Box
 quilt or rug?
As I went to take a picture of the quilt top, Elly immediately stepped on it.
She mumbled something about how lovely a 'rug' it is.
I just had to laugh.

 But seriously.....
I love this quilt top.
I used Itsy Bits by Andover,
Fig Tree lines including Strawberry Fields, Breakfast at Tiffany's, & Fresh Cotton
3 Sister's new line "Grace" and a few other odds and ends that fit.
The aqua's and the oranges just sing to heart.
It was an excellent refresher course in light and dark fabric and how to make a light appear dark by placing it next to an even lighter print.

I did some hand stitching as well, I put the binding on this baby sized quilt. It's been hanging around the "to be finished" pile for a while now.
I am slowly plugging away at those  :)
Notice the "helpers" foot in the pic?
I just couldn't keep her away.
then again, I didn't really want to.

make sure you get everything checked if the pain doesn't go away quickly(ish). And Elly is too cute, we are all very happy to see her tootsies and smiling face in any of the photos!

I could have written this post! Well, minus the falling down part, sorry about that! I too live in "sunny" South Carolina and have been cursing all of the rain this week. My poor kids are also out for spring break and are going stir crazy. I was tempted to take them to the Burger King playground to get some energy out! Did you get that awful hail on Sunday too? Man, I hope we get some sun soon. Feel better!

I wish you could send that rain our way. South Texas has been having drought conditions for way too long now!
I love the quilt top. Isn't it wonderful when our children love what we do?
