Blessing in Disguise?

We have had some unseasonably wet weather here in Ohio. Wet to the point of flooding in many areas.
I received a guild email last week that the local quilt shop had somehow gotten water damage.
The water backed up through a drain under their carpet. Needless to say ALL the fabric that was sitting on the floor (89 bolts) was water damaged and soaked.

After the insurance settled the owner didn't know what to do with all the fabric so she offered it up for $2 a yard. By the time I got there, there was only 20 bolts left.
It went fast.
I did get some good Lakehouse for backings.
I think 19 yards for $38 is totally worth it!
It was wet...that's it. I washed it, dried it and am happy as a lark.
Now about that blessing in disguise business....well just 2 weeks ago I was out at our quilt shop and she was saying how she needs to get all the fabric off the floor!
She's building a new shop and moving by August this year.
So now there is no more fabric on the floor.
She's reduced her inventory by 89 bolts and broke even on the money side.
Kind of a blessing in disguise.

Wow $2 a yard is fantastic, when my local PWS flooded recently they sold the fabric that got wet for $10 a metre. Fabric here in Australia is normally $20-$26 a metre!

I'm sorry about the damage the shop received because of the rain but you made out like a bandit. Awesome!

Glad you were able to get some of this great deal. That sucks though that she is probably kicking herself about it, but like you said, now she has less to move.

$2 a yard is an absolute steal. At least she broke even & now has less to move. Lucky you for snagging some :)

Yay for you! What great prints and a great price! Glad they all washed up nicely.
Poor store owner. She must have felt just sick when she saw the mess, but sounds like it is working out in the end!
