why oh why have I waited sooo long for you?

Totally loving my Ice Blue (aka aqua) Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer
First goodie I baked was banana bread.
I just kinda stood in disbelief as to how nice this mixer is.
Now my goal is to start my bread dough from the book Artisan Bread in 5 minutes a day.
I have been reading and re-reading that book and preparing myself to make the dough. I bought yeast, unsifted, unbleached flour as so forth.
I also hope Christmas cookie making will be improved with this guy.
I will have to let you know how we get along over the next weeks.
Do you have a stand mixer? what's your color?

I have an old white professional series that Mom bequeathed to me when she upgraded about 8 years ago. I can't imagine holiday baking without it!

I got a white kitchenaid! Love it I just haven't used it too much. I agree Xmas cookie time should go easier.

Love mine. My husband upgraded my white 4.5 qt one (since gifted to a sister) last year to the big one which I think is 6 or 6.5 qt. It's kind of a steel gray. Love it! Can mix three batches of refrigerator cinnamon rolls at one time and at least 3 batches of cookies at one time. Love the dough hook for pizza crust making. With seven little ones growing up here I can't imagine my kitchen without it. Definitely worth the cost.

I have a red one and love it! Got it for Christmas last year. It does a great job on the Artisan Bread too. :)

I have an almond Kitchenaid mixer and if it died today, I'd go shopping for another immediately! Mine is almond colored and is OLD. Actually, it's at least THIRTY years old!

There is quite a difference in the finished product....wait and see.

Cookies and quick breads have such a wonderful texture.

Have fun with your new "toy".

Red. It makes cookie baking way, way easier. Makes some awesome mashed potatoes too. I've had it for several years and had the same reaction you did -- why did I wait so long?

My husband surprised me with a KA for Christmas over 26 years ago. We couldn't really afford it, and I hadn't asked for it, but it was one of those rare times when I was so overcome with pleasure at the present and overwhelmed by his thoughtfulness, that I cried. That sucker has made breqad for 40 kids at pre-school, countless bowls of real whipped potatoes, thousands of cookies and Lord knows what else. The very best accessory I have for it is the lexan shield that prevents stuff from flying out of the bowl when you send it into overdrive.

Use Big Blue in good health and with joy!!!

Oh Yeees! I LOVE my Kitchen Aid Mixer...mine is basic white..because I love WHITE anything...love your blue though!

I've told my husband over and over what a blessing this mixer is...saves my hand aching or the icing over powering my hand held mixers motor! (cake decor icing) and the fact that you can let this be and do something else!
I call my mixer my 747 (like the aircraft...white reminds me of it..and the POWER!)

I KNOW you are going to love this more than you know now.

I have a white one (boring, I know) but I can't imagine making cookie dough without it. My husband uses it for bread. Wonderful. Kathie L in Alentown

O.M.G. I. Want. One!!!! My mixer is a vintage white/chrome Hamilton Beach that was a wedding present for my mom, but it's a small mixer with not a lot of power. I'd L.O.V.E. an aqua Kitchen Aid. Drools!!!

Which color...hmmm...aqau, red, or white!

Yes, you will love making bread with it. No kneading or very little. Mine is copper colored from my mom for my birthday. But if I would have had a choice, I would have chosen a color like yours. Enjoy it! Before this big one, I had a cobalt blue Kitchenaid that the head flips back on. It's not quite as strong but was still a great mixer.

I have a Kitchenaid stand mixer in white. I received it as a Christmas gift from my husband about six years ago and it would be the only kitchen appliance I would accept as a gift! I love it! Have fun with yours!

I have the red one but I'm crushing on your aqua one!! I also want that bread recipe book. Make sure you come back and tell us how your first loaf came out.

Love my Kitchen Aid mixer. Baking with it is great! We also use the meat grinding attachment and it works slick! I bought mine many years ago before they came out with all the cool colors so it is basic white. But it is a pretty cool machine anyways!

Definitely a great investment! =)

I love mine! I have a red one. I have to guiltily admit to having some of the attachments (pasta maker, meat grinder, sausage stuffer, slicer and shredder) that I never use but need to try. Your post reminded me of it and now I'm going to make a point to use at least one of them this weekend.

Mine is white. My husband got it for me a few years back for Christmas. I LOVE IT!! I have RA and it saves my a lot of trouble. I love the color of yours. Red plate, great touch!!

Yay! I have a "metallic chrome" KA that was my Christmas present to myself 5 years ago...you will LOVE it! Cookie dough, artisan bread (that book is GREAT!), pizza dough...it is definitely my favorite kitchen appliance! :) I love your aqua--perfect!

Congrats on your new mixer! I also have a Kitchen Aid mixer that my husband got me for my birthday a few years ago. It's lavender! :) It gets used quite often this time of year! I love it! Happy Baking!

I love the color of your mixer! I have a plain white one that I got for Christmas from my hubby just after we were married. I love it. The only downfall: I will never be able to replace it and get a different color. They just don't break down! haha!

Last Christmas I ordered an Apple Green KA for myself for Christmas!!! I love it and it does make things much easier to mix. Enjoy yours and I love the color!

I know just how you feel! I always told my husband if he ever bought me an appliance for Christmas I would kill him....well, 2 years ago I asked for the KitchenAid and I use it ALL the time and also wonder why I waited so long!

I've wanted one of those for years, I keep changing the color I want. Right now it's pistachio, but now maybe I want that light blue.

Can't imagine life without mine. I have one of the big ones in steel gray. We're lucky in this family - women have had KitchenAids since they first came off the production line! I just blogged about mine and my favorite attachment so found it awesome when I saw your post that someone else loves theirs too!

Ooooh, she's a beauty Vickie! I hoep you love her. I have had one for 32 years and couldn't live without her. My mom gave me mine and it's a family tradition -- I gave one to my oldest when he got married. My youngest is dating a girl who already has one, so I told her he can't marry her! ;-)

I received a white one for Christmas last year after I whined about how much easier making Christmas goodies would be with a KA mixer:)

That is a GORGEOUS mixer!! Love the KitchenAid mixers. What a bunch of attachments, too.

I have an avocado green kitchen aid that I inherited from my grandmother. It is older than dirt and works beautifully. I love it!

I have a basic white Kitchen Aid - I LOVE IT! My favorite thing to make is actually homemade marshmallows - that whip attachment is amazing! I also love the Bread in 5 books, although I almost never use the mixer to make it - it really is NO kneading! :) Enjoy!

ooh, how pretty! I have one that is dark matte grey. I don't use it nearly enough but love having it!

I have a white one, but would love to have a pink one! :) I got mine when I was decorating cakes. It is the best for mixing that buttercream icing! Enjoy!

Ooooh, that is so pretty! I'd love to have one, in red -- no, pink -- oh wait, does it come in orange? Except I haven't baked anything that doesn't start its life in a box, in years!

I just got the same exact mixer in the same color for my birthday!! I'm dying to try it out. My baby ended up coming 5 weeks early, so baking has been low on the priority list (any free time is spent sleeping!) but I can't wait to use it. Happy baking!

I do have a KA stand mixer. Mine is about 13 years old and is the pearlized white one. I also bought my son one 3 years ago - the Pro version in the manly gray. We both love them. He probably uses his more than I do as he enjoys making bread too. You're going to love it and it will last a lifetime.

Congrats on making the magazine and making the cover!

Vickie, you'll have yours forever. Mine was a wedding present in white so it would go with my kitchen for years to come. 3 moves later it fits right in. There's nothing like a Kitchen Aid.
Happy Baking
