Little Apples Giveaway

***** Comments are now CLOSED*****
Winner will be chosen today...

One of the highlights of market for me was meeting Aneela Hoey.
She was very gracious and lovely to talk to.
Her blog can be found  here

Some of you may have seen this little video about Aneela Hoey and her new fabric line Little Apples for Moda.

This is one of the cute-sie prints.

At market I picked up one of the sample kits for a stitchery and a pillow using Little Apples.

If you'd like to win this little bag with a stitchery pattern and a 2.5" charm pack of Little Apples just leave a comment here.
I will pick a winner on 6/4/11.

my side table

I am slowly recovering here. And my best friend is my recliner LOL.
My daughter took a picture of the side table near the recliner so I could blog about it.
She's been a HUGE help and so were my parents.
They are gone now :(
Anyhow, I am slowly stitching by hand
and with the pictures my daughter made I have some blog posts coming too.
Have a great Memorial Day!

looking ahead

View from my backyard...
I spent the weekend working my flower beds and vegetable garden.
I sprinkled only a small amount of sewing in to the mix.
It's Sunday night and I am whipped.
I sure wish I had more to show for the weekend but I just don't. :(
As for the rest of my week, well I can't say for sure.
I work a couple of days and then I have surgery on Thursday.
I have a feelin' that I won't be posting much this week.
My parents and sister are coming to help with my kids and the housework.
I hope to have a speedy recovery.
Oh and for those of you who are wondering what I am having done...
I might as well tell you,
It's an endovenous ablation. I have to undergo 2 surgeries per leg.
It's genetic and finally gotten to the point that I am in discomfort daily. I live on Ibuprofen.
So this is the first of 4. Once I know what to expect I think I will be less worried and stressed about it.
This also means prolonged standing (rotary cutting fabric) or prolonged sitting (at a sewing machine) is prohibited for about 10 days...whoa...
bring on the hand sewing projects......
okay enough out of me tonight...
this girl is off to bed early.

you get the picture.

I was fortune to stop by all the Moda booths this market. This year they had lil 2.5" charm packs.
Aren't they lovely on a cake plate?

And a few more....
I have already started a small project with them...
started is the key word...
I am not exactly sure what it will end up.
a pillow?
a pincushion?
just not sure.

And sample spree was good to me too.
I snagged the main Moda bundles that I have been drooling over.
Little Apples.....
Curio.....
Terrain.....

and Ruby....
well you get the picture ;)

I have already started a quilt with one of the bundles.
I feel rejuvenated about quilting.
I have to say though, that today is planting day.
I just finished weeding, planting my vegetable boxes (there are 4!) and am off to buy some flowers to plant.
It's a beautiful day here and I am going to use every minute of it!
have a great day...

the people post.

I decided to do a people of market post.
My only problem is that I don't have pictures of everyone :(

Here is Kathy and I...at her book signing for her newest Martingale book Strip Smart Quilts which is about to be released and can be pre-ordered through amazon.
This is an excellent book that shows just a fraction of the ways a Creative Grids ruler can be used.
A snap shot with Joyce and Sarah.
I am over the moon happy that they were able to come to Utah and quilt market. One of the very first times that I met Joyce she mentioned that she didn't know if she'd ever get to a quilt market.
An low and behold, a year later here they are.
I know they had a wonderful week and I was happy to meet up with them near the Moda area before their appointments.
Ooo I met Natalia of Piece N Quilt. That was one of my BIG to do's of this market.
Stephanie is also pictured, she and were roommates with Sherri and we had met in Minneapolis last spring market. It was a good reunion for us too.
An finally....
Here's group shot with me, Stephanie, Heather, {RaeAnn's friend - sorry I don't remember her name :( }Sherri, and RaeAnn.
There were so many others that met....
pictures were taken with other cameras and I don't have copies of those.

I also met Shari of Doohikey Designs, Jacquie of Tall Grass Prairie Studios, Jessica Levitt, John Adams, Doe, Jennifer of Sugar Stitches, Sharon Red Geranium Cottage/Daisy Quilt Cottage and her friend Nancy No Blog, Bonnie of Cottonway, Konda of Moose on the Porch Quilts, Amy S. of Dairy of a Quilter,Vanessa of V. and Co., Lori Holt Bee in My Bonnet, Nanette of Freda's Hive and many more. I somehow didn't get pictures though, drat!
At any rate..despite market being 'biz ness" we managed to have a darn good time and I made many more friends in the process.
I'd like to say that this is my last market post..
but I still haven't shown you my sample spree 'stuff'...
so I hope to have a grip on that soon.
In the meantime I am working my normal day job, working at nights on future projects, planning tutorials, and being a mom on the side!
After market is busy busy for me....

Michael Miller and some misc. booths

Market pictures #3......

Garden Moon.
Swoon.
I have several of their patterns and I want like 20 more.
I totally could have sat in their booth for hours.
How about you? Do you have any Garden Moon patterns?
Izzy and Ivy's booth....soooo cute and they gave away delicious cupcakes.
My style is sooo eclectic...I think that's the term.
I suppose I do mostly stay in the lighter brighter range...but then again....
sometimes primaives draw me in.
Moving On
Birch. Storyboek.
On my list of must haves for a baby quilt.
and
Sarah jane.
She's released something like 52 skus of her new fabric line.
4 colorways total.
I want them ALL!
soooo adorable.
Look at the stitcheries.
I am going to stalk her etsy site for these.
Sarah's booth was cute all over with a doll house included.
And lastly for today....
This one stunned me. She won best booth design too.
Crazy Old Ladies designer debuted a new fabric line Going Coastal with Michael Miller.
I think it is the best beach inspired fabric I have seen to date.
I want to make every quilt in her booth.
Okay that's all I have for today, off to work now.

Riley Blake days.....

I'm waiting at my layover in Denver and thought I would show you more market before I get home to "reality" LOL.

Riley Blake's booth Spring Quilt Market 2011

Oh my goodness....Riley Blake
what an awesome booth!
I am smitten over all the lines that debuted at market.

Riley Blake is really making a name for themselves in the industry.
I am glad to see a family run business do this. They are genuine and fun.
Here are the highlights in pictures (okay some words too).

My first Riley Blake sample spree purchase:
Sew Cherry.
Yum.
Lori Holt is AMAMZING and exactly how I thought she would be.
Loved her.
Buy her patterns and fabric and you won't regret it.

Lila Tueller's booth with Lola's Posies.
A bit of Daydreaming by Cindy of Stitch Studios

And Cindy's booth (remember my sunday stash?? it was a treat to see the quilts she made with this line).
Oh no you didn't Quilted Fish......
Tea Party Hats.
And Oh YES we did put them on .....
teehee...that's Amanda of the Quilted Fish, Kim of Bitty Bits and Pieces, myself and Sherri of A Quilting Life.
What fun.

And last today but certainly not least...a Riley Blake Christmas line Holly Jolly Cottons.
It's like butter...
I have one more Riley Blake designer to talk about ....
but she takes a whole post...because I have a lot to say ;)

********
I have TONS more pictures.
I plan on blogging what I think is interesting, and I HOPE you don't get bored with it.
I love market and frankly this was THE best market I have been to yet.
I ♥ Salt Lake City.
