I know it's Christmas time but...

I have been feeling very springy lately. I used scraps from my Verna jelly roll cut them in half so that they were 1.25 inches X 5.5 inches and tied them like Rachel's tute onto a 12 inch wreath frame. I REALLY love Verna...
****Note**** MY Estimated yardage for anyone interested...
12 inch wreath uses 300 - 1.25 inch strips X 5.5 inches {total 1 yard and 14inches}
14 inch wreath uses 360 - 1.5 inch strips X 5.5 inches {total 1 yard and 24 inches,roughly a Moda honey bun}
these are estimates since I did the 12 inch with scraps.

Now I have a goal to do one in Christmas fabrics BEFORE Christmas if that's possible. Thanks for stopping by!

p.s. TODAY is the deadline for the One Pack Doll Quilt Challenge Giveaway.  So far there are 7 entries. Don't your project on Flickr for an entry to win 2 Moda jelly rolls of your choice from the Fat Quarter Shop

Lauren and Jessi Jung

have you seen this website?
It's Lauren and Jessi Jung's new site.  They are a mother and daughter team that has a new fabric line being released by Moda. It's called Botany. I have a bit of it from market and it's going to be a fun line to create with.  I just wanted to share their link because they have 4-5 free craft, applique and quilt patterns on their site now. Enjoy!!

New Tutorial on Moda Bakeshop!

I've got a new project on the ModaBakeshop...
I used Aster Manor from a Petit Four box...
which can be found at The Quilt Shoppe.

It was suppose to be a table topper...but it was so pretty hangin' over my new IKEA desk chair...that it transformed into a "chair scarf".

And then there was IKEA.....

A friend and I, plus our 2 girls, set out to IKEA a couple of Saturdays ago...can it be THAT long ago? Time is zipping by these days. I have been soooo busy at my office..which is good...but I'm exhausted every night. At IKEA I purchased a few fabric items...these are my first IKEA fabric buys. I haven't used them yet...I have only been using MODA lately LOL. I hope to make my intended project this weekend..we shall see. The picture shows a fraction of what I came home with. I bought some Christmas decor, 2 bookcases, a desk chair (post coming soon) and a small table. I really love IKEA. If only it were closer.

Mmm Lollipops...

I found a tutorial on One Pretty Thing on the felt food round up for felt lollipops from One Inch World...I couldn't resist making some....
I used my GO! cutter to cut the circles. I think they took me 20 minutes start to finish. My little girls love them!

It's home...

This quilt just arrived home from my machine quilter here in Ohio. I love the quilt design as it mimics the patterns in the fabrics. I am hoping to have this one done for a Christmas gift..we'll see as the crunch is really on right now.

Paper Plates CAN make me really happy..

I found that out today. We shopped a marathon of stores this morning. First, I had a return to Kohl's and that ended up costing my $40...because my husband wanted new shoes. Kohl's is supreme at suckering $$ out of me! LOL

Next, I stopped at Joann's and got the beads I'd forgotten last week to make the super duper cute Yo-Yo Christmas tree...ah so there were a few other minor decor items that jumped in my cart...they weren't on my list so i don't have to count them.

Like these...little cutesy ribbons...umbrellas in rainbow colors? they just jumped in my cart!

We bought a closet organizer for my daughter at Lowe's (hubby's weekend project), then Sam's for my office supplies....tons of T.P. and stuff. By the time we got to Target I was ready to go home....and then I remembered why I wanted to go there in the first place....

Kate Spain designed paper plates and napkins...just in time for Christmas....but low and behold as I was standing there admiring all these pretty things...did a faint yellow flower catch my eye.......

"That's odd I thought"..."that looks just like Verna" Ah because it WAS....Verna paper plates and napkins....Holy heart was singing. I absolutely adore Verna...and I have already made a pincushion of it. I have a table topper half done (needs quilting) and another quilt designed. Oh goodness, how will I bring myself to use them? Well I don't have to figure that out just yet. In the mean time, I'm just going to look at them..LOL

Pin Topper of the Month Club!!!

Did you know Gigi Minor of Pinks and Needles is going to host a Pin Topper of the Month Club? The first 100 people to sign up get a spot. They are going to be super exclusive Pin Toppers with monthly themes starting in january 2010. It will be our chance in the U.S. to have an opportunity similar to the gals down under in Australia where Quilt Fabric Delights did a pincushion/pin topper of the month club. I thinks it's very cool and I was happy to be one of the first to sign up. I didn't want any of my readers to miss a chance to have one of the pin toppers...
In case you are wondering, I am not getting paid for this. I just really really love Gigi's work. She makes them all by hand...That is very important for me! If you are interested in her other goods she also has an etsy site that will be open 24/7 starting Monday!

p.s. Today is Veteran's Day and In remembrance of my Grandpa Cook who served as an MP in Germany during WWII. I just wanted to say God Bless all the Veterans of armed forces on this 11th day of the 11th month.

Love my sampler box

I was extremely fortunate to score one of these at Quilt market. A Moda Bakeshop Sampler.

Sampler Boxes can already be found at the Fat Quarter Shop.

I decided it would be fun to make a quilt with each packet of fabric to showcase the fabric and sort of pay tribute to my first quilt market experience. I am determined to make 12 little quilts...

My first finish is a small tumbler made with Garden Party by Blackbird Designs it measures 10 inches X 12 inches .

I have 3 others started. One project has been cut and thus put on hold until I can look at it again. The other 2 I have started, use Sandy Gervais new line and Lila Tueller's Eden. There are 12 total and as I said before...not sure I can actually do this with all the other commitments I have...we'll see.

Magazine temptations....

I couldn't resist...and I broke down and bought the latest Quilts N might have thought it was the luscious wool pincushions on the front....oh was this...

why of course..a yo-yo Christmas tree decoration!!

So off to Jo Ann's I went (right after IKEA). I picked up the foam and pins...thought I had green seed beads (I don't) back to Jo Ann's I will go before I can make this little cutie...

While I was at JoAnn's I found Quilt Scene....other bloggers have shown it...

This is why I bought it...first it's Authentic, second it's just adorable, and third it was designed by Sweetwater...and I ♥them.
