Considering....

Tumbler layout options:
This is the original stack of 1200 3" tumblers.
My mother in law wanted to start sewing right away.
She started with a 1/2/1/2 configuration.
The pattern  creates white strips in a way.
Then she laid out this:
1/2/1/2/1
 2/1/2/1/2
which looks more scrappy and she settled on it.
I am considering my options here.
I still haven't decided how I will configure my tumblers.

p.s. giveaway still going on, comment on this POST.

Pot o'gold Giveaway!

****Comments are Now CLOSED****
I posted earlier in the week about the fact that I have had over 700 posts on my blog now and well over 1000 followers.  I have been waiting for the 1000 followers mark for a LONG time :)

In celebration of the 2 milestones I decided to host a giveaway and I enlisted the help of the Fat Quarter Shop, my favorite online quilt source.
With St. Patty's Day on the way I was working on a stitchery in kelly green. It's an old Irish blessing. That's when inspiration struck me. I feel like fabric is 'gold'. Then I thought.....I bet my readers do too. Why not bring that 'gold' and blessings to them the best way I know how.
Sooo.
Here's the Nitty Gritty of the Fabulous giveaway.

I would like you to visit the Fat Quarter Shop and make a list of how you would spend your Pot o'gold.
 {I am genuinely interested!}

There will be 3 $50 pot o'gold gift certificates from the Fat Quarter Shop up for grabs.

You will receive one entry for listing specific items you would buy with your pot o'gold.
{If you just say "I want to win" or 'thanks for the giveaway' your comment will not be counted.}

Bonus entry for blogging about the giveaway AND leaving the link to your blog post as a comment for me to view and verify.
{If you do not leave me the link your comment will not counted in the entries.}

Blessing in Disguise?

We have had some unseasonably wet weather here in Ohio. Wet to the point of flooding in many areas.
I received a guild email last week that the local quilt shop had somehow gotten water damage.
The water backed up through a drain under their carpet. Needless to say ALL the fabric that was sitting on the floor (89 bolts) was water damaged and soaked.

After the insurance settled the owner didn't know what to do with all the fabric so she offered it up for $2 a yard. By the time I got there, there was only 20 bolts left.
It went fast.
I did get some good Lakehouse for backings.
I think 19 yards for $38 is totally worth it!
It was wet...that's it. I washed it, dried it and am happy as a lark.
Now about that blessing in disguise business....well just 2 weeks ago I was out at our quilt shop and she was saying how she needs to get all the fabric off the floor!
She's building a new shop and moving by August this year.
So now there is no more fabric on the floor.
She's reduced her inventory by 89 bolts and broke even on the money side.
Kind of a blessing in disguise.
