Quilt Loft in Progress

A small pincushion I finished. I started the hand sewing of the hexagons on a long road trip. I just wanted to use bits of Kaffe Fassette fabrics and this is what I ended up with. It was just for fun...well and needles! Here's the new floor going into the quilt loft.....My husband slaved over this for a few weeks.

And another view. I can't wait to decorate and get all my cabinets and shelves in. Lord I should show all my supplies in boxes and strewn through 3 rooms! It's ugly I tell you. More on that tomorrow IF I have time...

Country Charm and Friends

Well today was a busy day. My friend and her sister came to town for lunch and visiting and going to the quilt shop of course! Here it is...my LQS Country Charm.
Here was my view from the shop. The owner's horses in the pasture. And Carol picking out pinks to match a Lakehouse fabric.
Carol and Cathy together. We had a great visit with Cindy too. I just love her shop.

A few more pictures of WIP's etc.

Blocks I have been appliqueing. Since my quilting/sewing area is in complete upheaval I can't find or remember what book these blocks came from. I will find it some day. Ellie's Room mostly together. You can see her awesome quilt by my friend Marilyn.

A pic of the pink/green table mat...mmm I do like this one.

What a LONG couple of weeks

Well I have not posted for sooo long it seems. I was busy with work, travel to Iowa to see family and then a bout of illness. My 6 year old was ill first then me. Horrible...just horrible what a virus can do. In between all the commotion I did manage to finish a few things. I took a charm pack of Moda "chez moi" fabric and made 2 table mats...sort of blue/orange colorway and a pink/green colorway. I need to photograph the pink one still. It's hard to say which I like better. I love them both! Oh and I used my Clover X-large Yo-Yo maker, love those yo-yo makers too.

Drumroll....... I finally finished Ellie's pants and they are sooooo cute. And boy were they easy. I used my Sis boom fabrics and I am hoping to make a top to match here in the next few weeks.

These 2 quilts were made my Mother in Law. She was turned into a quilter my 'moi' and seems to love it. She likes kits and applique. She does her own machine quilting too so we are proud of her!

You have to learn to ride a cat before you can walk...

She learned to roll over reaching for our cats...now she wants to ride them! and pull their fur..poor little guys...they just don't know what is coming when she learns to walk...then run!!!!!!!

Disclaimer: No cats were harmed making these photos. The cat weighs more than the baby!

Treasures, A Bag, and Some Play Time

Treasures from JoAnn's today. Amy Butler scrapbook papers, brads and stickers etc. LOVE the Sage green iron wall art I found with serious clearance prices. I finished my first Jelly bag today the pattern is by Bunny Hill with Folkorique jelly roll. Folkorique was designed by Fig Tree Quilts and Moda. I will have to say that it was quite challenging in spots. I have been sewing for 26 years and still struggled. I think because my focus is on quilting I have forgotten some sewing things associated with patterns and the fact that I was interrupted 10,000 times making it, but who's counting? But I learned how to make fabric covered buttons, a first for me.

Since the baby was sleeping I thought I would try to get in more sewing time and start those 'Britches' for her. So I traced the pattern on red dot and went to town...until I read the directions and was reminded to PRE-WASH the fabric!! So that stalled my progress. Off to the laundry I went with my Mod Girls fabric.

Thank you Mr. Postman/person

It was a fabulous postal day! LOL I received 2 packages today. Quilters Quarters sent me a lovely 'thank you' fat quarter. And I received my Free Fabric Friday winnings (Karen purple Mod fabric) and my order from Sew, Momma, Sew.
I could hardly contain my excitement taking the pictures...I wanted to tear open the pattern and get right to making Ellery some purple ruffly pants......but my morning has been spent hanging out with no water, waiting....and waiting and waiting. The plumber was to arrive promptly at 8:15 am....showed at 11 am! The electrician bless his heart was right on time at 9am...and the water softerner installers were here at 10 am. Something tells me that our system is complicated because it's 1:30 and the poor guy is STILL here. UGH!!

I called the plumber to fix our toilet....turns out my husband could have EASILY done it...but I didn't let the plumber off that easy. I had him switch a faucet for me in the downstairs 'water closet'....see here...now what he didn't know before he got here was that a pedestal must be taken completely and I mean COMPLETELY apart before a new faucet can be installed. Ah he finally finished and hour and half later. That is something I am glad my hubby didn't have to contend with...he could have done it...but why?
Here's the old faucet.
And the new...love brushed nickel...matches the rest of the house now!

So whenever this service person leaves I can get out of this house and get groceries and finish my daily duties and MAYBE just maybe I will get some 'play' time in and make Ellie those pants!

He's going to tear up the carpet later this week and start on the new faux hardwood floor. I am going to take pictures as we progress here.

Labor Day weekend

Saturday we HAD to travel to Waynesville, Ohio for a party with a BUNCH of our college friends. It is amazing how times have changed with the addition of children. Anyhow, I digress, Waynesville as you know hosts the absolutely fabulous FABRIC SHACK. So I asked my DH if I could stop there on the way to the party. It's the fabric shack for goodness sakes. We had a camera...but I had limited time and in between browsing I had to stop and take my 6 year old to the potty. So unfortunately no pictures to show of the shop. They are remodeling however. DH was in the car listening the football on the XM radio, the baby was sleeping, I thought he was happy. Turns out he wasn't but that's another story.
Taking a 6 year old into the fabric shack was a dumb/good idea. She picked out several fabrics....to make a skirt, bag and several quilts...even a piece of Kaffe Fassett.......she thinks I am super woman I guess. But anyhow, she did pick up the newest Quilt Pink II charm pack with 25 squares...I couldn't tell her 'no'. Here are some of the other goods we purchased. It's the Fabric shack for goodness sakes I HAD to take advantage! Haha Some Micheal Miller for the kitchen....
Moda charm packs of the newest fabrics...they didn't have the yardage :(
Urban Garden by Free Spirit...just LOVE it...bought 23 prints...have a quilt in mind for this line. And below a lovely sewing box...looks like a hat box...couldn't leave it.
I only have one picture from the party...I let my DH keep the camera, well he said he would take pictures! but he didn't :(
Last night while I was squeezing 15 minutes of sewing after the baby went to bed....DD asked if she could spread her "squares". While I sewed my purse handles...she designed her quilt. We, well I, started to sew them together and then she sat on my lap and tried to guide them while I put the peddle to the metal. That didn't last long. She got bored and left. But not before informing me that she wants to grown up and be 'exactly' like me and sew just like me. A few minutes later she said 'I want to grow up and come to your office and be a dentist just like you'. Ahh wonderful. I knew at least one of the girls might want to do this....and I thought 'Is she crazy?' no she just wants to be like her mom. And then it hits you, you are their Idol at this age....and you better be a good example by golly. Wow!! the pressure is huge right now. But anyhow, Here are the results of our 15 minutes of sewing....can't wait to quilt it for her...or perhaps I will make it bigger to cover her whole body! haha!

She's so silly....

Oh and while we were 'playing', Dad was working on my new quilting loft. I picked cabinets on Friday and my design team at the Olde Parsonage is putting together my wall and island. Eek! I can't wait. Anyhoo, DH was painting the new loft...the color is quite neutral. I'll decorate with color! and quilts.

I did some hand sewing on the drive to Waynesville, I made a pincushion from Susan Branch fabrics...like I needed to make another! And worked on sewing some yo-yo's together...

I sent 2 of my pay it forwards in the mail on saturday morning. Carol and Amma, I hope you like what I sent. I am working on the other gal's....have to get an address.
