Charm Pack Cherry Quilt - Sugar version (;

As I begin to type this post about the charm pack cherry quilt,
I reflected on the last two months.
Time has literally flown by.
My kids have only had 1 full week of school since January 1st!
(that is torture by the way)
My husband and I traveled to Japan for 8 days.
(*note to self...must post about this as it was awesome)
Plus I remodeled a significant area of my office.
(looks great but not really exciting or quilty)
I managed to sew this quilt very simple yet stunning quilt top
in between all of that chaos.

I chose 2 charm packs of Moda Bella Solid Silver
and
2 packs of  Modern Roses by Stephanie Ryan

I spent a whopping 4 hours sewing the quilt top.
Once I sorted my colors the hard part was over.

This picture shows the color contrast of the silver and the roses indoors.

When you read the pattern for this quilt
you can't believe the end result will be so stunning.
Maybe it's my fabric choices?
I just love it.
It's a bit like the jelly roll race quilt in that
it's a bit of a surprise as to how the quilt will look in
the end depending on fabric choices.

Once again the Fat Quarter Shop has created a great quilt!

I decided since the snow was melted that I would try to
take some pictures outside.

The wind was too much....
it immediately began to roll.

And roll.
I managed to get some pictures of it,
but nothing compares to the quilts that the staff at FQS made.

They made several different quilts.

As you can imagine there are an infinite number of charm pack combinations
 ( I'm guessing, I didn't actually calculate it).
This quilt was done in Sphere.

and this in Color Me Happy and Silver Solid

Fat Quarter Shop has even made a video tutorial about the quilt.

In addition to the free pattern,
the Fat Quarter Shop has all charm packs on sale 20% off until Midnight March 2.

I did a calculation.
2 solid charm packs $14.40
2 print charm packs  $16.00
one quilt top $30.40
Extremely reasonable cost for a lap size quilt top.
I'm going to stock up on Charm Packs!
I would really like to start on another charm pack cherry quilt top.
As you can also imagine...
that's probably not going to happen any time soon, at least I will have the fabric (:

I sewed.

Yes, I did.
 I sewed.

Mostly I have been organizing my sewing area.
While I was organizing a bit, I found this pieced strip
from the "Fresh" Moda fabric line.
It was "left over" from the strip piecing from the
"Verna" table runners that I made for my staff a couple of years ago.
You might remember my post about the process?
Here is the table runners' top before it was quilted and cut apart.

Anyhow, I found the left over strip and I added some white borders
to make it a bit wider for my side table.
IF I can get it quilted in the next month, it could be a great spring decor addition :)

Besides making time to sew the leftover spring table runner,
I sewed a Pick Up Sticks baby quilt top from a jelly roll of 'Fresh' by Heather Bailey.
Turns out that there are a lot of left over strips from this top so I put them into my stash.

And as if my stash was somehow lacking or thin, I have been adding a bunch of
low value / low volume light fabrics to it.
The rest are listed on my etsy site for those of you searching for stash additions.

As I said about a month ago, I am going to try to post more on my blog.
I had actually tried to post this 3 times this week but ended up switching from
internet explorer to Chrome to get my pictures to load.
I figured there had to be a way!
Be back soon....
