bundles of joy

Oh no!
 NOT those kind of bundles.
These kind.
The fabric kind.

Another fabric sneeker in my life
is the new Aneela Hoey line called
POSY.
It's a sneeker because I never expected to like the prints so much.
Then I saw them in a mini charm pack - done.

this is my favorite POSY print.
I'd like a whole bolt.
I have to settle for 5 yards.
I had to be reasonable.
I have no definitive plan for this fabric.
It just NEEDS to be in my stash.

I was looking for bella solids to coordinate with the POSY line.
I mean a dark purple
(purple is kind of a loose term because the matches are not true purples...they're sort of muddied)
and I have found a couple of good matches.
But like I said, I don't really have a quilt planned for it yet.

I found these Lecien prints at the fat quarter shop.
I must have ALL Kawaii cat prints.
Must.

And since I have been getting that springy Happy feeling this week,
I used my 'mad' money on a bundle of
Happy Tones by
Michael Miller Fabrics.
If you are looking for the entire line Joyce has it at

So I have TONS of fabric to get me started sewing.
Now I just needs MANY hours in my day to do it.
Don't I wish.

p.s. Just so you know, this is not a sponsored post.
 Bundles just give me joy.

Some new charm packs

I bought a couple of new charm packs online
(like I needed them)
and decided to cut into Aspen Frost first.
Originally I was planned on the boo crew...
until...
I opened Aspen Frost.

I started piecing a block but so far I haven't finished it.
I have to say that this Basic Grey line totally
surprised me.
I sort of blew it off when I saw the digital images
but when I got the charm
pack in hand and started laying out the prints
they were all quite beautiful.
I usually love basic grey's fabric lines and
this one is no exception.
I can't even say if I have a favorite fabric
because I am torn between the music notes and snowmen.
I have a jingle in my mind,
back and forth,
music notes,
snowmen,
music notes,
snowmen.
UGH I give up. I can't choose.

LUSH UPTOWN: why wasn't I told?

I loved Uptown by Erin Michael when it was first released by Moda.
I still have some of the yardage that I have been hoarding.
Now Moda is reprinting it with some of the best of the UPTOWN and  LUSH lines!

I'm so excited.

I can't wait to get some yardage of these prints.

here are just a few of my favorites....

I even made a purse with this print!
Do you have any Uptown or Lush in your stash?
Are you excited about this line?

food

It's all about food and staying warm.
We've taken hibernating for the winter literally here.

Well maybe not literally but it seems that with the cold weather of February
we have been cooking and eating like we plan on hibernating.
We used the last of our frozen tomatoes to can
more Roasted Garlic Pasta Sauce.
It's a recipe from a Better Homes and Garden Canning magazine from last year.
It's totally worth the 5 hours we spent for 5 pints.

Like I mentioned...
we cooked but we also
baked.
Bread
Artisan bread in 5 minutes a day.
Yum.

My husband is quite the chef as well
with these egg souffle type things.

Of course I can not leave out a little chocolate for Valentine's Day.
We were treated to chocolate covered strawberries from our
local chocolatier? Grandpa's Cheesebarn.

And last but certainly not least....
Carrot Cake flavored M&M's
I did not post this to totally disgust anyone.
They aren't too bad IF you like carrot cake.
They are not sit down and eat the whole bag at once kinda good...
it's more of a handful is plenty.
I don't know how they come up with these...
but I shudder to think of the next flavor,...
perhaps...
Boston Creme Pie, Tiramisu,
or hey why not Banana Cream pie...Ewww.
I'll leave you with that thought.
A fabric post is coming soon,
probably tomorrow.

a minor miscalculation leads to love.

Yes, I was struggling with inspiration /mojo for quilting in general.
I can't say why exactly.
Last weekend,
I decided to start rummaging through my scraps of 30's.
I started quilting over 15 years ago collecting 30's..
so why not start there again.
(some of you may have seen these pics on instagram)

I pulled out some yellow and purples strips.
I was going to make a 7" block I think,
but I forgot to add seam allowances.
Doh!

I cut all the strips 1" instead of 1 1/2".
My block ended up 5" finished,
so I decided to make it a pincushion
and hand quilted it.

I love it.
It's a perfect mistake.
Now I just have to channel that inspiration to other projects!
How about you?
Got mojo for quilting right now?
