internet issues :(

I have been having internet issues all weekend. Network is working but not the server we pay for. I managed to upload this pic. I found a bundle at JoAnn's...and these 3 prints were in it. I could swear it's Heather Ross fabric. What line? West Hill? Anyone know if I am correct....
If it is Heather Ross then I will do a happy dance. I have very little of her fabric.

Bonus Tutorial: Oven Mitt

3/4 yard Spirit sku #11436-15 chocolate dots
1 yard of insulbrite
1/4 yard heat n bond lite
coordinating thread
Flip -N-Cut Magic Template Set 3

Instructions:

Flip-N-Cut Magic Templates are definitely magic.
I am amazed at the shear number of combinations you can make with these sets.

Here's how you use them.
First, start by tracing the first half of the template.
Mark the center so that you can align the template when you flip it.
Now it's flipped and the cross is aligned with the center and I continue to trace the flower shape.

Here's the flower.
Easy as that.
Now you need to trace your desired pieces for the oven mitt.
Fuse them the fabric and cut them out.
Applique templates used for the oven mitt:
{2} #3A
{1} #3B
{1} 1" circle

Oven Mitt

Ingredients:
Cut 4 chocolate dot fabric at least 15" X 12"
{2 for each side of the oven mitt}
Cut 4 insulbrite batting at least 15" X 12"
{2 for each side of the oven mitt}
3 flower appliques
15" of binding

Layer a chocolate dot right side down, 2 insulbrite pieces and then a chocolate dot fabric right side up as shown.
Quilt this fabric sandwich with diagonal lines 1 1/4" apart as shown.
This is bulky and will make one side of the oven mitt.
Repeat for the other side of the oven mitt.

The pdf can also be found here or Click on the picture to print.

Using the oven mitt template cut 2 sides of the mitt as shown.

Zig zag or serge the edges.

Iron on your chosen appliques to one side of the mitt.
Buttonhole stitch the appliques to secure.
Make your 15" of binding if you haven't already.
Attach the binding to each side of the oven mitt with your sewing machine.
I do not recommend hand sewing the binding.
Next, lay the oven mitt sides right sides together and sew around the outer edge.
Be careful at the binding edges since there is significant bulk.
I would use a 1/2" seam allowance. Yes 1/2" even though you added 1" to the pattern.
This will help with turning.
Carefully turn out the oven mitt through the arm opening.
One coordinated oven mitt!!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to leave me a comment.
Happy Weekend Sewing :)

Big News In Spun Sugar Land

I have quilts in Quilts n More Fall 2010 magazine!

Um What's that you say? I'm a cover girl?

Well here I go just tooting my own horn,
My Flight of Geese quilt made the cover.
I. am. ecstatic. seriously.

I about fell on the floor.

well not today...
but the day I found out.
I couldn't have been more surprised.
 really.
I feel like I have been holding this secret for ages. In fact, one of the quilts has been made since January! Anyhow, I am psyched to finally show them.

Flight of Geese was designed very near Spring Quilt Market.
What a crazy time that was!
I was very happy that the great peeps at Meredith had a 'secret sewer' to sew this for the magazine.
The resulting quilt is amazing and scrappy.
I love it.
*****************************************************
And then there was Botany....
a fabric line that turned into a delicious surprise for me.
and this hello yellow quilt.

"Hello Yellow" is absolutely perfect for a layer cake or 2.
This sews up quickly like 3-4 hours.

I designed this with tweens in mind.
Great visual impact with a simple shape.
I can see this quilt made with any Moda layer cake.
I think that's what's so cool about it.

What do you think? would you make them?
Tell me,
tell  me,
feedback is greatly appreciated :)

p.s. {yes my pictures were ahem 'borrowed' from the Fat Quarter Shop as I don't have my magazine yet...thanks Kimberly :) }

Final Block of Jelly Roll Quilt Along

I finished the blocks woohoo!
I have started to cut the setting strips. Could get it done this week?
I love seeing the progress of the other jelly roll quilt along participants. Some have their quilts done! It could be months before my quilt is done. I have to search for some plume yardage online for my backing. I couldn't possibly use another Tula pink fabric for it, I'm hoarding that. LOL.
