Thought for a second about frogging it...I think I will leave it as is..

Still Really Itching for Spring

Like many of you I have been itching for spring to arrive.
 That the weather will stay 'nice' and play well for us.
In the spirit of Easter and spring coming I was tempted to make some fabric eggs. I pulled out some of my 1930's scraps and used Retro Mama's tutorial.  I have made 7 so far...I'd like to make more with Verna? I have to finish a quilt in Verna first and see what scraps I have left over..yeah it's for Moda Bakeshop.

Sometimes my eyes are too big for my stomach....
relate that to fabric...my stash is too big for my time LOL. I really want to finish this quilt in Verna.
I also have another Moda Bakeshop project that is soooo nearly complete.
I can not wait to show it. I simply love it. And I hope you will too.

It just dawned on me that today is National Quilting Day. Gosh...how could I have missed that? must be all the crazies going on at my house.
Hmm....well since I am not doing a quilt a long, sewing saturday or any of that...maybe I should have a giveaway.
How about a Botany Layer Cake??

1. Leave me a comment about what you'd like to see a tutorial of..or a pattern of.
2. Become a follower and leave me a separate comment so I know.
3. Follow me on Twitter and leave me a comment
**Note**
I updated my sidebar to show the link to my twitter!! Thanks for being patient.
4. Blog about my giveaway & comment to me the link so that I can check out your blog.
 I am always looking for more blogging friends!
The only way I will be able to track the entries is through the comments this time so please leave a separate one for each thing :)
EDIT: I will choose the winner on Tuesday March 23, 2009!

whew....

that about sums up the last 24 hours. I worked long hours yesterday with no lunch ...actually we did that 3 out of 4 days this week. It was a tough work week.
Then, as some of you know, we closed on selling our house.
We have had it for sale for 3 years.
yep 3 years.
My advice is to never buy a house BEFORE you sell the one you live in...we learned the hard way.

Today my parents, sister an niece arrived for a family weekend. We basically celebrated Grace, Elly and Aliana's birthdays...all March birthdays. Ice cream cake was for Grace...

This cake borderlines on a cakewreck...it's hard to see in the picture but her name was misspelled and re-written.
It's kind of funny to me for some reason.
On the quilting side..I bound a quilt. I finished an Eastery project that I hope to post soon. I am not sure how much sewing I will do this weekend as we have a BIG shopping trip planned to Build A Bear ! teehee...okay it's big to a 9 year old.

Windmill Tablerunner Tutorial

Celebrate {almost} Spring!!!

Windmill Tablerunner Tutorial

Supplies

• 1 Charm pack {I used Neptune}
• 2/3 yd. Background fabric { I used Moda Essential Dots Egg Shell sku#8654 11}
• 2 yards Backing/binding fabric
• 1/2 yd. Border fabric {I used Neptune sku# 23037 19}
• Omnigrid Windmill template
• Small Clover Yo-Yo maker
• Batting 42X 42
• yo-yo's
• buttons

Instructions

• Choose 32 charms for the blocks.

• Carefully cut each charm into two windmill shapes using the Omnigrid template.

• Cut 3 strips of background fabric 5 inches X WOF
• open the strip and position right side up

• Lay one of the windmill charms next to the background so that you remember what orientation the template should be on the background. IF the template is flipped it will be a mirror image and the blocks will be mirror images. Speaking from experience on that issue.

• pin pieces together off setting the seam about 1/8 inch as shown and sew

• once pieces are sewn...arrange on a design wall
• sew pairs together and then rows
• Cut 4 strips for the border fabric 2 inches X WOF

• sew top borders 2 inches X 34 (measure the quilt top for accuracy)
• sew side borders 2 inches X 36

• Cut remaining background into 3 inch circles and using the small yo-yo maker
• make 16 yo-yo's for applique

• pin yo-yo's into the center of each windmill. • Applique into place using neutral thread and a small stitch.

• layer with batting and backing and stipple around yo-yo's in a meander pattern or quilt as desired.
