Sweet Simplicity

I saved this 5 inch charm quilt guide from a Quick Quilts magazine about 2 or 3 years ago. Before Moda charms were sooo popular. While I was sorting and organizing I ran across it and thought "Gee I have a MILLION charms...so I pulled out a pack of Simplicity and got to work.....Here's my first layout. I took this with me to my special quilty vacation/break...but I didn't get it stitched together so it's on the WIP list. I am thinking of putting a scallop border on it...not sure. but I have lots of Simplicity yardage I can use from the sale in Pawleys Island a couple of weeks ago.

More Cool Giveaways.....

Check out Candace's 100th post giveaway.... and Lise is having one too...There's been a whole lot of bloggin' going on.

Good stuff back

I am so fortunate to have found a gentleman to do some machine quilting for me. I have a Mega Quilter but I haven't gotten it assembled since we moved...um 14 months ago!!!!! Anyhow, I was introduced to a guy that does computerized stitching with an HQ 16 and ONLY does overall patterns. I just happened to have like 9 big quilts waiting to be quilted....whenever I assembled my mega quilter....ah that could be another year. So I gathered up 6 of the quilts I wanted done that didn't require any custom quilting. He just finished 2 and had the 3rd on his machine and told me he'd start the 4th in a few days. I brought home the first 2. I am very pleased with the results so far. The quilt in 1930's blues and yellow was a pattern I did myself. I drew a star and appliqued them on then decided to make a bunch of 9-patches to set with them. Here's is a close up of the stitching...in which he used a light blue thread and overall star pattern.
This quilt I made for my mom LAST mother's day 2007!!!!!!!!! I am serious. She's a hairdresser and the prints are ladies getting their nails done and under the dryer etc...it's cute for her.
He chose a "bikini" meander...but I call it bra and underwear LOL.

Vacation Finds and Finishes

Well I had intended on posting while we were in Myrtle Beach but I took lots of pictures and can't find my camera cord for transfer. I think I left it in MB :( I did however re-take some pictures of my finds and finishes to show. When I get a replacement cord I hope to post more pics. This huge stack of fabs is from the Quilt Garden in Garden City. It's a newer quilt shop...maybe 6 months old...anyhow the owner has too many new fabrics coming so she was having a 50% off sale...um HELLO Moda..there was Simplicity,Daydreams, wildflower serenade, Posh, At the Water's Edge...plus P&B Tex. and Benartex, Michael Miller and on and on. I spent WAY too much...but I stocked up on backings. I found that I don't have many pieces of fabric over 2 yards but I have been making quilts that require yardage for the back. I stuck to the fabrics that will finish a project. I am quite pleased with what I found. Remember only $4.50 a yd.! As for "finishes" I did my second BOM from the Fatquartershop's mystery BOM. I think they are looking good so far...... I did this tabletopper with Wee Play fabrics and a kit from FQshop...can you tell I LOVE the FQ shop?
Oh here's a new project...it's made from my charm stash and fat quarter stash. I have a couple hundred triangles and I am going to attempt to make a scrappy quilt with these..ALL stash..wooohooo...
I may have shown this before..I am not sure, but it is done now...binding and all.
And this is finally done too...I am making another tumbler quilt as well..only BIG for me!

Here's another view.
Anyhow...as soon as I can get more pictures I will post..as there were a couple of quilts I want to show everyone. Until then....
