Back when I went to Amish country, I stopped at Country Craft Cupboard. I picked up this stitchery book by Hatched and Patched called Simple Pleasures.
I instantly fell in love.
It's packed with stitchery projects and ideas. There are 12 little 2.5" stitcheries that make up one particular quilt in the booklet. Within 24 hours I cut my background fabric and traced my lil' stitcheries with a brown pigma pen. Since each of these is so small...I made a grid onto the background and once they are all stitched I will cut them apart. I made sure there was a seam allowance too!
The brown is so light....I don't know if you click on the picture if you can see the designs better.
The recommended colors for the stitcheries are quite primitive to me. Now don't get me wrong, they are beautiful...but I found other fabrics that I wanted to incorporate.
So I set my It's A Hoot FQ bundle near my threads....
and this is the match.....
Then I thought, hey what about City Weekend?
Yellow....
Turquoise....
Red-orange...
Evidently City Weekend palette won me over :)
Here's the first completed square....
Can't wait to stitch the rest....road trip to Iowa should fix that!!

So cute...I have that book too...but don't love the original thread colors either...can you share the brand, thread numbers you used? And I'm so jealous of that It's a Hoot bundle!!!
Those are adorable stitcheries and I too like the brights! I always loved primitives best, but lately I would rather play with the brights and modern!
Te va a quedar precioso,me encantan los colores que has elejido, porque son más modernos pero muy acertados,de que libro has sacado los patrones?.BESOS
Love it!! Can't wait to see the finished quilt. I'm glad you chose the brights.
Love it!
Oh that is so cute!! I want to try it now :D I will have to keep my eye out for something that cute! :D
I love this color palette so much! I prefer the bright and happy, too!
"It's a Hoot" is lovely!
Great colors choices. I like a lot of the primitive designs, but don't really care for the color palettes that are usually used. Your colors really jazz the pattern up.
How cute! I love your stitchery! I like to stitch to relax too~ I'm going to have to put that book on my list. ;-)
Oh my goodness...I NEED that book!! :) So cute!
What a cute combo. I'll be interested in seeing the finished product. Love the fabric bundle too.
Oooh--those stitcheries are so cute--and no joke, you picked up the book at CCC? I can walk there from my house & they are having a sale this weekend...I think I may need to pick up some goodies!!
